Ayodhya Airport on High Alert Following Bomb Threat to Bengaluru-Bound Akasa Air Flight

The Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya was placed on high alert on Sunday after a bomb threat was reported concerning an Akasa Airlines flight from Bengaluru. The flight, carrying 173 passengers, landed safely, thanks to the swift activation of emergency safety protocols.

According to news agency ANI, the alert was triggered around 1:30 PM when authorities received information about a potential bomb on the flight. Upon its arrival, airport personnel conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft and its passengers to ensure safety.

Airport Director Vinod Kumar confirmed that no suspicious items were found during the checks. “There was a bomb threat call concerning the Akasa flight from Bengaluru to Ayodhya. The checks have been conducted successfully, and it appears the call was a hoax. There were 173 passengers on board,” he stated.

Passengers remained cooperative throughout the emergency procedures, which included a comprehensive examination of both their luggage and the aircraft itself. Kumar noted that this incident followed a similar hoax call received earlier in the week, emphasizing the need for vigilance at the airport.

“Around 1:30, we received information about a bomb being planted on the flight, prompting an immediate landing. The passengers, their luggage, and the aircraft were thoroughly checked, but nothing suspicious was found. All passengers are safe now,” he added.

As investigations into the threat continue, airport officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety of all travelers and maintaining stringent security measures at the airport.

This incident highlights a concerning trend, as recent weeks have seen a spike in hoax calls and emails threatening bomb blasts on various flight routes across different airlines. Authorities remain vigilant to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and airport staff.
