The family waved to supporters as they took off and headed to Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C. Following shortly after were Ivanka Trump, her husband Jared Kushner, and their children, who traveled on a separate plane.
For this trip, Donald Trump chose to replace his iconic Trump Force One jet with a Boeing 757-200, a specially configured aircraft often used by high-ranking officials, according to the New York Post. Trump’s son Eric and daughter-in-law Lara opted for the family’s private jet for the journey instead.
Weekend of Events in D.C.
Trump’s arrival marks the beginning of a busy weekend ahead of his inauguration. On Saturday evening, he will host a reception and fireworks show at his golf club in Virginia, with 500 guests celebrating the start of his presidency. On Sunday, Trump is scheduled to hold a rally at the Capital One Arena and participate in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. He will also visit St. John’s Church, a tradition for incoming presidents.
Additionally, Trump will have a private meeting with outgoing President Joe Biden before the formal inauguration events begin on Monday. The day will begin with the traditional church service, followed by the official swearing-in ceremony, and will culminate with Trump’s inaugural address.
