Several Injured as Vehicle Plows Into Pedestrians in Suspected Terror Attack in Israel

    -

At least 10 people were injured, including one critically, after a vehicle rammed into pedestrians at the Karkur junction, south of Haifa, on Thursday. Israeli police are treating the incident as a suspected terror attack.

According to a police statement, security forces intercepted the vehicle and arrested the suspect, identified as a 53-year-old Palestinian from the Jenin area. Authorities noted that he was in Israel unlawfully and was married to an Israeli citizen.

“Preliminary findings indicate that he deliberately targeted civilians waiting at a bus stop,” the police said.

Israel’s emergency medical service, Magen David Adom, confirmed that 10 people were wounded in the attack, including a 17-year-old girl who remains in critical condition. Others sustained moderate to serious injuries.

    Escalating Tensions in the Region

The incident comes amid heightened tensions, as the Israeli military continues a large-scale operation in the northern occupied West Bank. Dubbed “Iron Wall,” the offensive spans multiple refugee camps near Jenin, Tulkarem, and Tubas.

Jenin’s refugee camp, which had an estimated population of 24,000 before the military campaign, has long been considered a stronghold for Palestinian militants. Military operations in the area have intensified following the recent ceasefire in Gaza.

The Israeli government has not yet released further details about the suspect’s motives, and investigations are ongoing. Security has been tightened in the region as authorities remain on high alert for further threats.
