A moderate earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck parts of Pakistan on Monday, just two days after a separate 4.0 magnitude quake was recorded in the country, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
The tremor was reported at around 1:26 PM IST on May 12. The quake’s epicenter was located at a latitude of 29.12°N and a longitude of 67.26°E, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, NCS data confirmed.
The seismic event follows another earthquake that occurred early Saturday morning at 1:44 AM, which registered a magnitude of 4.0. Both quakes have contributed to heightened concerns in the region, though no casualties or damage have been reported so far.
Authorities are monitoring the situation, and residents have been urged to remain cautious. Pakistan, located near the seismically active Himalayan region, frequently experiences earthquakes of varying intensity.
