The English side was unable to counter the Indian onslaught and were defeated by a margin of 97 runs, their worst loss by runs in Women’s T20I history. The previous biggest defeat came against Australia, by 93 runs in 2019.

Skipper Smriti Mandhana delivered a record-breaking performance, scoring a majestic 112 runs, surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur’s previous best of 103 for the highest individual score by an Indian in Women’s T20Is. This innings added another historic feather to Mandhana’s cap — she is now the first Indian woman to score international centuries in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Globally, only four others have managed this rare feat: Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, Beth Mooney, and Laura Wolvaardt.
