With a career rooted in theatre and steadily expanding into television, films, and digital platforms, Marathi actor Aparna Chothe is quietly building a reputation as one of the industry’s versatile performers. Known for her dedication to meaningful storytelling, Aparna has consistently chosen projects that challenge her as an actor while leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
Originally from Pune and academically trained with a Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Aparna chose to pursue her passion for the performing arts. Today, she is actively working as an actor, writer, and narrator, balancing stage performances with screen appearances across multiple formats.
One of the defining milestones of her career has been the acclaimed solo theatrical production ‘Tya Tighee… Swatantryakundatil Adnyat Virangana, based on the lives of the wives of the Swatantryaveer Savarkar brothers. Apart from playing the central role, Aparna conceptualised, wrote, directed, produced, designed the costumes and stage presentation for the play. As it is a solo performance, she is portraying all 3 characters of the ladies from Savarkar Family. Till date she has done with 48 shows through out Maharashtra and out of Maharashtra and heading towards 50th undoubtedly. She promises to be many more ahead.
Her performance earned her the prestigious MATA Sanman 2021 for Best Actress, making the production one of the most celebrated achievements in her theatrical journey.
Continuing her successful run on stage, Aparna is currently performing in the commercial Marathi play Gosht Tichya Ghatsphotachi, where her performance has earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, further reinforcing her growing presence in Marathi theatre.
Beyond the stage, Aparna has steadily expanded her work across television, short films, advertisements, and digital entertainment. She has appeared in Sony Marathi’s popular television shows Tumchi Mulgi Kay Karte? and Karan Gunhyala Mafi Nahi, showcasing her ability to portray emotionally layered characters.
Her performance in the short film Madhubala received widespread appreciation on the festival circuit, winning multiple Best Actress awards and earning her a nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards. She has also been part of several notable short films including Didi, Kaljayi Savarkar, and Durdamya Lokmanya, along with films such as Vidyapeeth and the
upcoming Marathi film Saasre Are Baapre.
Most recently, Aparna has been seen in Zee5 Marathi’s web series Detective Dhananjay – Rahasyajaal, which premiered on 1 May. Her appearance in the mystery drama marks another important step in her growing digital portfolio as she continues to explore diverse roles across OTT platforms.
Alongside acting, Aparna has made significant literary contributions as an author and editor. She authored Tu Dhairyachi Asasi Murti, a biographical work on Late Yashodabai Ganesh Savarkar, and served as editor for Haridini, a collection of memories based on the life of Shantabai Narayan Savarkar. Her contributions have also been recognised through honours including the Savarkar Vichardhara Yuva Puraskar, Swatantryaveer Savarkar Uttung Rashtravichar Samman, and the Janai-Muktai Samaj Jagruti Puraskar.
