"UK Couple Shocked as Garden Ornament Turns Out to Be Live Bomb: A Startling Discovery Unfolds"

A couple in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, UK, recently faced a jaw-dropping revelation when they discovered that the seemingly harmless garden ornament they had kept for decades was, in fact, a live bomb. Sian and Jeffrey Edwards were startled upon learning from a policeman that the item they assumed to be a “dummy” bomb without a charge was indeed a potentially dangerous explosive device.

According to reports by The Guardian, Sian Edwards used to casually tap her gardening trowel against the bomb to remove earth, believing it was inert. The shocking revelation came when a policeman informed them of the reality, prompting the need to involve the Ministry of Defence.

“We didn’t sleep a wink all night. It knocked us for six,” expressed Jeffrey Edwards, 77, speaking to The Guardian. He further stated their adamant decision to stay put at their residence despite the situation, refusing to leave in case the bomb detonated.

Subsequently, the live bomb was safely transported to a disused quarry in Walwyn’s Castle, where it was buried with five tonnes of sand and detonated. Tests conducted by the bomb disposal squad indicated that the bomb had very little charge left, mitigating potential risks.

Expressing remorse for the item’s fate, Mr. Edwards, who has lived in the area since childhood, conveyed his sadness at losing what he considered an “old friend.”

Reports suggest that the bomb likely dates back to the 19th century, with historical context provided by the Morris family, the former owners who unearthed the bomb a century ago. The Edwardses acquired the house in 1982.

Mr. Edwards recounted the history surrounding the area, mentioning how warships from the Royal Navy would anchor in St Brides Bay, aiming their guns towards Broad Haven for target practice on the sands.

Following the disposal, Mr. Edwards mentioned that the hole where the bomb was found had been filled in, with flower pots rearranged to cover it, signifying a remarkable yet unsettling discovery that captivated their quiet abode in the UK countryside.
