The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was somber as news of the passing of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi’s ruling family, emerged. The UAE Presidential Court officially announced the demise of Sheikh Hazza, whose age was not disclosed, on Thursday. He is the son of the late Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who passed away in 2019.
The cause of Sheikh Hazza’s death was not disclosed by the Presidential Court. However, condolences poured in swiftly from across the nation. The Presidential Court, in a statement quoted by The National newspaper, extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the family of Sheikh Hazza. The statement also included prayers for the deceased to be blessed with eternal paradise and for his family to find solace during this difficult time.
Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan was known for his exceptional talent as a horse rider, earning recognition within equestrian circles. His contributions to equestrian sports were widely acknowledged.
The funeral prayers for Sheikh Hazza took place at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed the First Mosque, where a large gathering of Sheikhs and mourners bid farewell to the young royal. The funeral procession proceeded to the Al Bateen Cemetery for his final resting place.
Among the dignitaries who attended the funeral prayers were Abu Dhabi’s crown prince, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the eldest son of UAE president Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Khaled was joined by several other members of Abu Dhabi’s ruling Nahyan family, showcasing the deep respect and mourning for Sheikh Hazza’s passing.
The sorrow of Sheikh Hazza’s passing also reached beyond Abu Dhabi, with Dubai’s crown prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, offering his condolences.
