The Adani Group, led by industrialist Gautam Adani, has firmly refuted any association with the construction of Uttarakhand’s Silkyara tunnel, where 41 workers remain trapped following a collapse over two weeks ago. In a statement, a spokesperson for the conglomerate clarified the group’s complete absence from the construction endeavor.
Asserting its non-involvement, the Adani Group spokesperson emphasized that neither the conglomerate nor any of its subsidiaries possess any direct or indirect association with the company responsible for the tunnel’s construction. The statement made it unequivocally clear that the Adani Group does not hold any shares in the concerned construction entity.
The incident occurred on November 12 when a section of the under-construction Silkyara-Barkot tunnel collapsed due to a landslide, leaving workers trapped 260 meters inside. The tunnel forms a part of the Char Dham all-weather accessibility project and is under construction by the Hyderabad-based Navayuga Engineering Company Limited.
Strongly denouncing any attempts linking the Adani Group to the tunnel collapse, the conglomerate condemned such insinuations as baseless and erroneous. The focus, the group asserted, remains on extending support and prayers to the trapped workers and their families during this distressing period.
The Adani Group’s swift denial comes amidst ongoing rescue operations to extricate the trapped workers, amplifying the urgency to separate factual accountability from unfounded attributions in the aftermath of the unfortunate incident.
