In a recent address to the people of Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted the transformative era of development initiated by Narendra Modi, popularly known as Narendrabhai, during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Shah emphasized that the remarkable progress witnessed in Gujarat from 2002 to 2014 served as a catalyst for Modi’s ascent to the position of Prime Minister, ultimately transforming the “Gujarat model” into the “India model.”
During his speech, Shah credited the “Gujarat model” for its all-round development initiatives, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, education, and agriculture. The state witnessed significant advancements under Modi’s leadership, including uninterrupted 24-hour electricity supply, improved water management systems, the construction of check dams, agricultural reforms, and a focus on promoting education for girls.
The provision of 24-hour electricity was a milestone achievement that ensured uninterrupted power supply to homes, industries, and businesses. This initiative not only enhanced the quality of life for the people of Gujarat but also contributed to the state’s economic growth and industrial development.
Water management and conservation played a crucial role in addressing the state’s water scarcity issues. The construction of check dams and other water conservation projects helped in harnessing and storing rainwater, thereby enhancing agricultural productivity and ensuring a reliable water supply for farming communities.
The “Gujarat model” also prioritized agricultural development, focusing on improving farming techniques, implementing innovative irrigation systems, and providing necessary support to farmers. These efforts resulted in increased agricultural productivity, greater crop diversity, and improved livelihoods for farmers across the state.
Furthermore, the government’s emphasis on promoting education for girls in Gujarat was a key component of the development model. By ensuring equal opportunities for education, the state witnessed a significant increase in female literacy rates and empowered countless women to pursue their dreams and contribute to the nation’s progress.
Amit Shah urged the people of Gujarat to remain united and make a decisive choice between Modi and Gandhi as their Prime Minister in the upcoming 2024 elections. Expressing confidence in Modi’s leadership, Shah acknowledged the widespread support he witnessed during his travels across the country.
Highlighting the significance of Gujarat in national politics, Shah called upon the people to ensure that all 26 seats in the state are won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the third consecutive time, reinforcing their commitment to the principles of the “Gujarat model” and the progress it has brought to the nation.
As the 2024 elections approach, the public’s response to this call for support will determine the direction in which India’s development trajectory will continue. With the foundation laid by the “Gujarat model,” Narendrabhai’s vision for development has the potential to shape the future of the country.
It remains to be seen how the people of Gujarat and the nation as a whole respond to this appeal for continuity in leadership or a potential shift in the political landscape.
