Andhra Woman Swept Into Sewage Drain in Malaysia After Footpath Collapse

    -

A 45-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh, India, has gone missing in Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, after being swept away into a sewage drain following a footpath collapse. The incident occurred while Vijayalakshmi, from Animiganipalle village in Chittoor district, was walking along the footpath.

According to reports, Vijayalakshmi was on the footpath with her husband and son when the ground gave way unexpectedly. Her husband and son managed to escape the sudden collapse, but Vijayalakshmi was pulled into the underground sewer.

Rescue operations were promptly initiated by Kuala Lumpur’s civic authorities. Despite extensive efforts, as of Saturday evening, there has been no sign of Vijayalakshmi.

In response to the tragic incident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials from the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu (APNRT) Society to ensure that search operations are conducted efficiently. The Chief Minister, along with Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Nara Lokesh, is actively monitoring the situation and has expressed concern for Vijayalakshmi’s safety.

The ongoing rescue mission underscores the challenges faced by authorities in such emergencies, as they work to locate and recover Vijayalakshmi amid the complexities of the underground sewer system.
