A 31-year-old newly married man in China has captured the hearts of social media users after sharing his extraordinary daily commute of 320 kilometers, all for the love of his wife. The man, identified as Lin Shu, has become a viral sensation following his posts on the Chinese social media platform Douyin, where he documented his extensive travel routine.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Lin’s daily journey begins at 5 am when he wakes up in Weifang, Shandong province. He departs his home at 5:20 am, riding an electric bike for 30 minutes to the train station. Lin then boards a train at 6:15 am, arriving in Qingdao, another city within Shandong province, at 7:46 am. From there, he takes a 15-minute subway ride to his office, arriving just in time for work at 9 am.
After finishing his workday, Lin embarks on the reverse journey, taking three to four hours to travel back to his home in Weifang. Despite the grueling commute, Lin remains positive, attributing his endurance to his deep love for his wife. He explained that he and his wife married in May after a seven-year relationship, and they bought a flat in Weifang to provide her with a “sense of security.”
Lin, who previously lived in a rented flat an hour away from his work, explained that commuting from Qingdao was not a feasible option due to the higher cost of living there. He noted that the convenience of intercity transport and his manager’s understanding of his situation help make the commute manageable.
Lin’s story has garnered more than 7 million views on Douyin, with many social media users expressing amazement at the extent of his commitment. “Six hours a day. He must love his wife very much,” one commenter noted. Another user, working in Beijing, added, “There are many people who travel long distances daily between cities like Beijing and Tianjin or Hebei.”
Lin also shared that his long commute is a temporary situation. His wife is currently seeking employment in Qingdao, and if successful, the couple plans to relocate there permanently.
Lin’s dedication to his relationship and his willingness to endure such a demanding daily routine highlight the lengths to which some individuals will go for the ones they love, resonating deeply with many who have followed his journey online.
