A New Revolution in Indian Fashion Begins as DFC Delhi Fashion Club Secures the Iconic Title, Marking a Historic Leap for the Industry
New Delhi, India
Finally, a 10-year-old dream and vision comes to reality as Harshit Dhingaun, founder of Delhi Fashion Club, officially becomes the owner of the trademark “DFC Delhi Fashion Week”, after a dedicated legal pursuit spanning over four and a half years. Registered under application number 4733438 in Class 41 (event organizing and entertainment services), this win marks a historic moment not just for him, but for the future of Indian fashion. We applied in 2020 and received rights in 2025.
The journey began during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when the world—including the fashion industry—had come to a standstill. While others paused, Harshit envisioned a revival. His futuristic mindset led him to file for the trademark “DFC Delhi Fashion Week” with the intent to empower artisans, promote handloom, and provide a fresh platform for emerging designers.
Importantly, this legal victory was strongly backed by Harshit’s existing ownership of the registered trademark “DFC Delhi Fashion Club”, which had already earned recognition through years of authentic work in the fashion space. This prior registration played a crucial role in securing the rights to DFC Delhi Fashion Week.
“We fought a long legal battle against an unknown party who tried to take advantage of the name, without realizing we were the original owners. In the end, truth and legacy won,” said Harshit.
Harshit Dhingaun has been a dynamic force in the fashion and entertainment industry for over 17 years. From being a fashion model and reality show face on Channel V and MTV, to working as an RJ, Bollywood Host/VJ, and creating influential content on various digital platforms, his versatility has made him a well-recognized name. With a strong presence in the entertainment world, he continues to inspire and guide the youth and emerging fashion enthusiasts.
In his own words, “For the last 17 years, I used to attend, associate with, and promote FDCI India Fashion Week as a fashion blogger and creative contributor in various capacities. The work and legacy of Sir Sunil Sethi, President of FDCI, has always deeply inspired me—his personality, leadership, and contribution to Indian fashion has set a high benchmark. As we step into this new phase with Delhi Fashion Week, we aspire to maintain a similar standard and even look forward to collaborating with FDCI in the future for the collective benefit of the Indian fashion society.”
As the Founder & Chairman of Delhi Fashion Club, Harshit shared,
“When we launched Delhi Fashion Club, my ultimate dream was to own the name ‘Delhi Fashion Week’ and establish it as the fashion authority of Delhi. We’ve spent over 8 years building this brand, supporting handloom and textile promotion, and organizing fashion shows that blend heritage with contemporary appeal. Today, that dream is a reality.”
Delhi Fashion Club (DFC) is set to complete 10 years in December 2025, and Harshit reveals plans to celebrate this milestone with a grand edition of Delhi Fashion Week around that time.
“We expect to bring together respected senior advisors, top designers from the celebrity world, and influential fashion figures from across India and globally to make this edition a true celebration of Indian fashion,” he added.
Under his leadership, Delhi Fashion Club has collaborated with major institutions and events such as ASSOCHAM, IIFT, Asian Designer Week, IFW Goa, IFW Chandigarh, and various international fashion weeks. These partnerships have played a key role in establishing credibility and setting the stage for Delhi Fashion Week to launch on a national and international level.
Looking forward, Harshit aims to elevate Indian fashion by collaborating with iconic platforms such as London Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week, and more. The acquisition of the “Delhi Fashion Week” trademark is expected to become a catalyst for putting Delhi—and India—on the global fashion map.
From now onwards, any unauthorized usage of the word mark or brand name “Delhi Fashion Week”, whether online (including Instagram pages or handles) or offline (events, banners, print use), is a violation of a registered trademark and shall be liable for strict legal action under Indian trademark law. The rightful ownership lies solely with Harshit Dhingaun and Delhi Fashion Club.
