A touching interaction between former U.S. President Donald Trump and an Indian-origin couple has captured the hearts of many on social media, going viral with nearly 8 million views since it was posted. The encounter took place on Sunday at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, where Trump was serving French fries as part of his campaign activities.
Dressed in a black-and-yellow apron over his white shirt and red tie, Trump was behind the takeout counter when he was greeted with a cheerful “namaste” by the energized couple. As he handed their order to the husband, the customer expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Mr. President! You made it possible for ordinary people like us to be here.” The interaction was filled with warmth, as the husband repeatedly referred to Trump as “Mr. President,” while the woman sitting next to him humorously added, “Thank you for taking the bullet for us.”
The video, shared on X by user Hodge Twins, highlighted the couple’s genuine appreciation for Trump, with one user commenting, “That man and his wife are so genuine; they will remember this forever.” Another remarked, “This is so sweet and so precious; it just makes me tear up.” Many viewers expressed delight at the unexpected encounter, imagining the surprise of receiving food from a former president.
Trump’s McDonald’s visit also served as a tongue-in-cheek jab at Vice President Kamala Harris, who has often mentioned her experience working at the fast-food chain in her youth. During his visit, Trump quipped, “I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala,” suggesting her story was exaggerated.
In response to Trump’s playful stunt, Harris’s campaign spokesperson, Joseph Costello, criticized the visit, stating it underscored what a second term under Trump would look like: “taking advantage of workers for his own benefit.” Another spokesperson for Harris’s campaign, Ian Sam, added that Trump “can’t understand what it’s like to have a summer job because he was handed millions on a silver platter.”
