Eight people were injured on Saturday when a driver crashed a vehicle into a CarMax dealership in Inglewood, California.
According to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesperson Jonathan Torres, two individuals sustained critical injuries, while six others suffered minor wounds in the incident.
Footage shared on social media showed the moment an SUV backed into the building, prompting an employee to rush out. The vehicle then pivoted in the dealership’s lobby before exiting through the opposite end.
The driver, who was reportedly a customer whose vehicle had been appraised, was later arrested. In a statement, CarMax expressed gratitude for the swift response by authorities.
“We appreciate the authorities’ swift response to this terrible event,” the company said.
Authorities initially responded to the incident as a possible active shooter situation, but that was later ruled out.
The Inglewood Police Department has yet to release further details.
