External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, currently on the second leg of his two-nation tour following his visit to Australia, met with Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong on Friday. The two leaders engaged in discussions focused on strengthening their contemporary partnership, with an emphasis on key areas such as industrial parks, green energy, innovation, and semiconductor development.
Jaishankar shared details of the meeting on social media platform X, noting the productive discussions aimed at advancing collaboration in critical areas of economic and technological growth. “Started my visit to Singapore by meeting DPM & Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. Discussed taking forward contemporary partnership, with a focus on industrial parks, green energy, skilling, innovation, and semiconductors,” he posted.
During his brief stay, Jaishankar is also scheduled to address the 8th Roundtable of the ASEAN–India Network of Think Tanks, where he is expected to emphasize India’s strategic partnership with Southeast Asia. The minister’s itinerary includes meetings with Singaporean leadership to review the strong ties between the two nations and explore new avenues for further enhancing the bilateral relationship.
India and Singapore share a multifaceted partnership with strong economic, technological, and cultural links, and the discussions reflect mutual interest in deepening cooperation, particularly in areas that are crucial to economic growth and sustainable development.
