Indian Canadian singer-songwriter Sabrina Sapal releases her single ‘Kiss Goodbye’ released by VEVO and TMC Records Worldwide. The song is written, produced, composed, and directed by Jasmine Kara. Sapal was the debut artist for the launch of TMC Records Worldwide. Sapal is the singer and is featured in the music video as the actress. ‘Kiss Goodbye’ is a heartbreak song made in the EDM genre appealing to the youth. The song was shot in multiple locations around the Greater Toronto Area. Sapal traveled from Los Angeles to Toronto to shoot the music video for ‘Kiss Goodbye.’ Sapal recalls the first time she was offered the song. “I received a call from Jasmine saying that she created a song which she thought would sound great in my voice and when I listened to it for the first time I thought it was composed in a unique flow. It had a dark Pop EDM flavor which was appealing to me. I was ready and excited to get into my studio and record it right away. I loved the song because it was relatable to the audience.” Sapal has experienced working in so many cities around the world, but it was her first time working on a music video in the city she was born in (Toronto). When asked what her favorite part of the video was, she excitedly explained working with artificial rain for the first time in one of the music video locations. “I did not mind being soaking wet in the artificial rain at all. In fact, I was immersed in my emotions. I was completely in the feel of the song and Jasmine kept cheering for me behind the camera while shooting the scene. For me, I am willing to be in any weather conditions as long as it makes the project look its best, whether it be in rain or playing with fire (literally). Sapal can be seen working with fire for the second time in a music video.
The first time being when she worked in India for the music video ‘Shauq Marran Da.’ The ‘Kiss Goodbye’ music video was shot over a course of a few days and in many different sets around Toronto. Sapal’s last release was a sweet, melodious, love song called ‘Hichki’ released by Jass Records and has now released ‘Kiss Goodbye,’ which is a complete opposite in terms of theme. “I don’t like to be seen as the goody two shoes all the time. Although that is one facet of my personality, I also have a dark side as well, hence my song selection of ‘Kiss Goodbye.’ I like to keep the audience on their toes with an element of surprise with each song release.” Sapal also expressed how lucky she feels to be able to do a vast variety of songs already so early into her career.
After being asked whether she would be open to signing to any label, she admitted, “I have rejected many offers to sign to record labels because I don’t think I would have that much creative freedom to release whichever type of song I want to release. I am not against the idea. When I am approached by a label which I would feel comfortable working with and where I can continue to feel liberated, I will definitely sign. For now I am enjoying being an independent artist.” Sapal has some upcoming EDM releases which are collaborations with European music producers. The songs are written and composed by Sapal. When asked how she comes up with lyrics she laughs and explains, “I write based on real-life experiences which are sometimes embellished or fictional scenarios which float around in my head until I write it in a song. I am hungry to tell stories in my songs that people can picturize without having the need to watch the music videos. The music videos are just the cherry on top.” Sapal feels that the audience is most eager to hear her EDM releases more than other genres at the moment.
