In an escalating conflict, the Israeli military has announced the killing of a Hamas commander, Zahi Yaser Abd al-Razeq Oufi, during an airstrike on the Tulkarm refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. The strike, part of Israel’s continued military operations, claimed the lives of at least 18 Palestinians, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
Israel’s military stated that the airstrike targeted Oufi, the head of Hamas’ network in Tulkarm. Hamas, a Palestinian militant group, has been at the center of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestinian forces. The killing of Oufi comes amid a surge in violence in the West Bank since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, with Israeli forces carrying out near-daily operations resulting in armed confrontations and thousands of arrests.
The Palestinian government responded with condemnation, calling for “urgent international action to stop the escalating massacres” against the Palestinian people. In a statement, the official spokesman for the Palestinian presidency, reported by WAFA, denounced the Israeli airstrike, warning that such attacks would lead to more instability and violence in the region.
Tensions have remained high in the West Bank, with both sides enduring heavy casualties as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues to escalate. The West Bank, long considered a flashpoint for clashes, has seen increased military activity and frequent confrontations since the war in Gaza began.
