A mass shooting at Maplewood Park in Rochester, New York, has resulted in one death and six injuries. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, leading to a large police response and ongoing investigations.
Rochester Police were alerted to the scene around 6:20 pm following reports of a large gathering with gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered several individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and observed a chaotic scene with many people fleeing the area.
According to the police, a 20-year-old individual was killed in the shooting, and another person remains in life-threatening condition. Five additional victims were hospitalized with injuries described as “relatively minor.” Some of the injured were transported to the hospital by private vehicles, while others were taken by ambulance throughout the night. The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been disclosed.
The shooting prompted a significant response from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriffs, Rochester Police, and New York State Police.
