Nepal’s legendary mountaineer Kami Rita Sherpa, popularly known as the ‘Everest Man,’ has achieved a historic feat by summiting Mount Everest for the 29th time, breaking his own record and reaffirming his status as one of the world’s most accomplished climbers.
At 54 years old, Kami Rita Sherpa reached the summit of the 8848.86 meters tall Mount Everest at 7:25 AM (NST) on Sunday. This remarkable accomplishment came during an expedition organized by ‘Seven Summit Treks,’ where Kami Rita served as a senior guide.
Prior to this ascent, Kami Rita had set a record in the last spring season by climbing Everest twice within a week, marking his 28th summit. Despite his impressive track record, Kami Rita had initially expressed no specific plans regarding the number of times he would climb the iconic peak.
The Department of Tourism officials confirmed Kami Rita’s successful summit, hailing him as the ‘Most Successful Ascent of Mt. Everest by an Individual.’ Seven Summit Treks celebrated his achievement on social media, recognizing his unparalleled dedication and skill in mountaineering.
Kami Rita’s journey to this historic moment began in late May from Kathmandu, leading a team of around 28 climbers on an expedition to conquer Everest. Throughout his illustrious career, Kami Rita has been instrumental in guiding and mentoring climbers on their quest to reach the summit of Sagarmatha.
