A deadly Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, left three people dead and caused multiple fires, prompting mass evacuations, according to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service on Sunday.
One of the victims, a woman, died after debris from a destroyed drone ignited a fire in a high-rise residential building in Kyiv’s Dniprovskyi district. At least 27 residents were evacuated from the building as emergency responders battled the blaze.
Another fatality was reported in the city’s Holosiivskyi district, which was also targeted in the overnight assault. Ukrainian authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and working to contain the impact of the attack.
This latest strike is part of Russia’s continued aerial bombardment of Ukraine, escalating tensions in the ongoing conflict. Kyiv has been under repeated drone and missile attacks in recent months, leading to growing concerns over civilian safety and infrastructure damage.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and follow emergency protocols as the war continues to affect daily life in Ukraine.
