Two individuals were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the occupied West Bank on Saturday, according to the Palestinian health ministry. The strike targeted a vehicle in the city of Jenin, which the Israeli military described as an operation against a “terrorist cell.”
The Palestinian health ministry reported that the two victims’ bodies were transferred to Jenin public hospital following the bombing. The official Palestinian news agency, Wafa, indicated that the strike was conducted by an “Israeli drone.”
Video footage from the scene showed a vehicle engulfed in flames in the middle of a street, with onlookers gathered around the charred car. Rescue workers were seen bringing a stretcher as cries of “There are dead people in the car” were heard from the crowd.
The airstrike comes amid heightened violence in the West Bank following Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7. The region, occupied by Israel since 1967, has seen increased clashes, with at least 635 Palestinians reported killed by Israeli troops or settlers since the escalation began. During the same period, Israeli authorities report at least 18 deaths, including soldiers, from Palestinian attacks.
