The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded its visa-on-arrival programme for Indian nationals, now including those holding valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from six additional countries. This move grants more Indian passport holders easier access to visa-on-arrival facilities at UAE entry points.
Expanded Eligibility List
As per the UAE’s latest directive, Indian travellers with valid visas, residence permits, or Green Cards from Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada will now be eligible for the visa-on-arrival programme. This extends the existing facility, which was already available to Indian nationals with valid documentation from the United States, European Union member states, and the United Kingdom.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the programme, Indian nationals must meet the following conditions:
- Hold a valid ordinary passport with at least six months of validity from the date of arrival.
- Possess a valid visa, residence permit, or Green Card from any of the eligible countries.
- Pay the applicable visa fee upon arrival at UAE immigration checkpoints.
Strategic Partnership and Economic Goals
According to Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of UAE’s Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), this initiative aligns with the long-term strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi and New Delhi.
The move aims to:
- Facilitate smoother travel for Indian citizens and their families.
- Provide new opportunities for Indians in terms of life, residency, and employment in the UAE.
- Enhance UAE’s attractiveness as a global financial, tourism, and economic hub by welcoming top global talent and entrepreneurs.
Moreover, by expanding visa-on-arrival access, the UAE seeks to boost its status as a premier destination for tourism and business, further strengthening economic ties with India.
Conclusion
This expansion is expected to benefit thousands of Indian travellers and professionals, making the UAE a more accessible destination. With its world-class tourism, economic landscape, and business opportunities, the UAE continues to position itself as a leading global hub while fostering deeper ties with India.
