This was the central message delivered by Pon Maa Kishan, who recently addressed two different audiences at two leading institutions in Chennai—each with a common purpose: preparing the next generation to think beyond classrooms and create solutions with real societal and industrial impact.
At VIT Chennai, where he serves as a Technology Transfer Officer, Pon Maa Kishan was invited to address faculty members during the Faculty Induction Program. His session focused on how research can move beyond publications and become products, startups, patents, and technologies that solve industry challenges. Drawing from his experience in technology commercialization and startup development, he encouraged faculty members to view innovation not only as an academic pursuit but also as a pathway to national development and economic growth.
Addressing newly inducted faculty, he emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, industry engagement, intellectual property creation, and building an entrepreneurial mindset within higher education institutions. He also shared practical insights into how researchers can work alongside industries to accelerate technology adoption and maximize the impact of their work.
In another academic engagement, Pon Maa Kishan was invited as Founder and Director of Wings of Aero by Sukish™ to deliver a guest lecture to students of the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Sathyabama University.
The session explored emerging trends in aerospace, including morphing technologies, next-generation aircraft concepts, and the growing role of innovation in shaping the future of aviation. Rather than limiting the discussion to technical concepts, he encouraged students to think as innovators and problem-solvers capable of developing technologies that could contribute to India’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
Throughout the interaction, students actively engaged in discussions on research opportunities, entrepreneurship, and the future of aerospace technologies. The session highlighted the importance of combining technical expertise with creativity, collaboration, and an understanding of industry needs.
