Earthquake Swarm Strikes Pakistan, New Guinea, and Xizang in Early Tuesday Hours

A sequence of seismic activity struck multiple regions across the globe in the early hours of Tuesday, with earthquakes hitting Pakistan, New Guinea, and Xizang in quick succession, causing concerns but no immediate reports of casualties.

The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported an earthquake of magnitude 4.2 that jolted Pakistan at 3:38 am (IST) today. The epicenter, located at 34.66 degrees north latitude and 73.51 degrees east longitude, was recorded at a depth of 10 km.

Simultaneously, near the northern coast of New Guinea, an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale occurred at approximately 3:16 am. The tremors were felt with a depth of 10 km, according to the National Center for Seismology.

Additionally, Xizang experienced an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter Scale at 3:45 am, with a depth of 140 km.

Although these seismic events caused tremors and raised concerns due to their proximity in time, no immediate casualties or damages have been reported from any of the affected regions.

This recent series of earthquakes follows earlier seismic activity in Pakistan, where in September, an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 was recorded at a depth of 10 km, as reported by the National Center for Seismology.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, urging preparedness, and advising residents in seismic zones to remain vigilant. The occurrence of multiple earthquakes in diverse regions within a short span emphasizes the unpredictable nature of seismic events and the importance of proactive safety measures.

The National Center for Seismology continues to track and provide updates on seismic activities across affected areas to ensure public safety and preparedness.
