George Lowe, the renowned American voice actor best known for bringing ‘Space Ghost’ to life in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, has passed away at the age of 67. Lowe died on Sunday following health complications, leaving behind a legacy that deeply impacted the world of animation and voice acting.

The news of Lowe’s passing was confirmed by his longtime friend, radio personality “Marvelous” Marvin Boone, who shared an emotional message on Facebook.
“I’m beyond devastated. My Zobanian brother and best friend for over 40 years, George Lowe, has passed away after a long illness. A part of me had also died. He was a supremely talented artist and voice actor. A true warm-hearted genius. Funniest man on Earth too,” Boone wrote.
The Career of George Lowe
Born in 1957, George Lowe started his voice acting career in the 1980s with occasional roles. His breakthrough came in 1994 when he was cast as the voice of ‘Space Ghost’ in Space Ghost Coast to Coast, a surreal late-night talk show parody featuring the classic Hanna-Barbera superhero. The show, which aired for over a decade and surpassed 100 episodes, gained cult status and became a cornerstone of Adult Swim programming.
Beyond Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Lowe was a recurring voice on other Adult Swim hits such as Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Robot Chicken, Sealab 2021, The Brak Show, Squidbillies, and 12 Oz. Mouse. His distinctive voice also graced American Dad, Celebrity Deathmatch, and multiple animated adaptations of The Grinch.

Lowe faced serious health issues in recent years. In July 2023, contributing writer MC Chris revealed that Lowe had suffered an aortic dissection, requiring intubation twice. Since then, he had been under home care in Florida.
