Meghan Markle’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., has publicly criticized the Duchess of Sussex, accusing her of fabricating stories about her childhood to gain sympathy in her new Netflix cooking series, With Love, Meghan.
In a recent interview with TalkTV, Thomas Markle Jr. claimed that Meghan’s depiction of her early years was misleading. The former actress described herself as a “latchkey kid” who grew up eating microwavable meals and fast food, a narrative Thomas strongly disputed.
“That’s just another one of the malarkey stories she sold to the royal family for sympathy,” Thomas stated. He insisted that their family was not financially struggling and that Meghan never experienced the hardships she implied. “We weren’t poor. She didn’t have to rub two nickels together at Sizzler’s salad bar.”
Thomas, who has been estranged from Meghan for over a decade, also criticized her claims about cooking being her “love language.” He alleged that Meghan “didn’t cook anything for anybody ever growing up.” Furthermore, he remarked on what he called the “Meghan Markle death stare,” suggesting that she had an intimidating demeanor.
Dismissing the Netflix series, Thomas predicted that audiences would quickly lose interest. “Everybody’s going to watch the first episode, and it’ll be the worst critically acclaimed episode of all time,” he said. “Then, five or six minutes into the second, they’ll probably commit themselves to a psychiatric ward.”
Meghan Markle has not publicly responded to her half-brother’s comments. The Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, continues to generate attention as viewers and critics weigh in on the Duchess’s personal recollections and culinary storytelling.
