Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group based in Lebanon, has claimed responsibility for a drone and missile attack on an Israeli military base. This strike comes in retaliation for recent strikes that resulted in the deaths of three Hezbollah fighters.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah have escalated since October 7 when Hamas, a Palestinian group allied with Hezbollah, launched an attack on southern Israel, leading to conflict in the Gaza Strip.
The latest incident marks the third consecutive day of Hezbollah strikes targeting Israel, with the most recent attack injuring six people in Western Galilee. Among the injured, one person is reported to be in serious condition.
Hezbollah stated that their attack targeted a military reconnaissance command center in Arab al-Aramshe, a village in northern Israel. This action was described as a response to the killing of Hezbollah fighters in Ain Baal and Shehabiya on the previous day.
The Israeli army confirmed the attacks from Lebanon and responded by targeting the sources of the fire. Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli strikes in south Lebanon resulted in the deaths of two Hezbollah commanders and another operative, prompting retaliatory rocket launches from Hezbollah.
The ongoing violence has claimed the lives of at least 368 people in Lebanon, including Hezbollah fighters and civilians, according to AFP estimates. In Israel, the conflict has led to the deaths of 10 soldiers and eight civilians near the northern border.
The situation has also forced tens of thousands of civilians to flee their homes on both sides of the border, raising concerns about the potential for a full-scale conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, who last engaged in war in 2006.
