President Biden Declines Pardoning Son Hunter Biden in Firearms Trial

During an exclusive live interview with ABC News anchor David Muir at the Normandy American Cemetery on the anniversary of D-Day, President Joe Biden confirmed that he would not pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who is currently facing trial for multiple felonies related to a 2018 firearm purchase.

When asked by Muir if he would pardon Hunter, President Biden unequivocally responded, “No.” He also indicated that he would accept the outcome of his son’s trial in Wilmington, Delaware.

Hunter Biden, the only surviving son of the 46th US president, is standing trial for attempting to buy a firearm in 2018, a bid that detectives allege he was unfit for due to substance abuse. This case is notable as it represents the first time the son of a sitting president has been charged with a crime of this nature.

President Biden’s stance on Hunter’s trial contrasts with former President Donald Trump’s recent historic trial, where Trump was convicted on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Biden criticized Trump’s attempts to undermine the rule of law, emphasizing that Trump received a fair trial and that “the jury spoke.”

The interview also touched on Biden’s recent executive action to close the border to asylum seekers between official points of entry. Additionally, Biden discussed international concerns, particularly Israel’s military actions in Gaza, calling on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to prioritize the safety of civilians in conflict zones.
