In an Interview with Ramzan Shaikh, He talks about his NGO, HopeMirror Foundation.

How have your priorities changed from when you first started?

For sure my priorities has changed from when I first started. At first I used to buy goods of brand for myself but as of now that I’ve seen the people suffering from vicious cycle of poverty now before spending something unnecessary I think of those.  Who are in real need?

What inspired you to develop your idea?

I’ve personally seen the poverty, I come from a background where my grandfather used to work as a labour in a company and he used to make our living with that sum of money. From that very age I decided to change life for my family as well as to do something for the society

Knowing what you know now, is there anything you would have done differently when you were first starting out?

No there’s nothing such that I’d have changed or done differently, me and my team has given our best from whatever we could and I’m satisfied with the work that we’ve delivered so far.

How did you decide where to establish your NGO?

I’ve always dreamt of doing something helpful for those who are in real need & in lockdown I got the chance to follow my instinct and I transferred my idea into reality by setting our base in Navi Mumbai and thane region.

What challenges did you have to overcome at the beginning of your journey?

There were various sorts of challenges that we had to overcome as we were running out of the team members, we also had the fund issues we still carry our work with self-funding and lockdown became the major barrier for our service but still we managed to overcome all the consequence.

What is unique about your NGO?

Many organisations are there with the motive of the good cause to the mankind in a particular firm but we are sole in our locality that we’re covering the various drives and the works in the different streams for the cause of good.

What advice would you give to someone who is trying to become an NGO Founder?

Consistency, patience and vision are some factors that one should always carry along with him on the journey of the mankind.

What strategies did you first use to market your NGO?

We targeted the youths who have mesmerizing energy to help those in need I tried to channelize the energy of youth towards helping those in need and it is the major reason that we’ve reached so far by the grace of god.

    How do you define Success?

I personally think the ability of someone’s to make someone’s heart smile without being biased on his caste religion and sort of things and the blessings that someone achieves with his vision is something I can call success.

What have you enjoyed most about starting your own NGO?

The blessings and the real happiness that I see each time while helping is something unique and something that I enjoy the most it is kind of therapy to my soul.

What qualities do you think makes a good social worker?

Calm nature, patience and consistency is all I’d like to say.

What are you working into now?

Now we’re planning on free education for children and also we’re working on the progress of tribal development, we’re launching project sakhi and project sikhsha under the tribal development scheme.
