In a heartbreaking incident, 24-year-old Russian actress Kamilla Belyatskaya lost her life after being swept into the sea while performing yoga on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. The tragedy occurred as Belyatskaya filmed herself on a yoga mat overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, only moments before a powerful wave pulled her into the waters.
The Incident:
Belyatskaya had arrived at a popular tourist spot on Koh Samui in a red car. She proceeded to a rocky area near a viewpoint and began performing yoga. While she was filming herself, a sudden and large wave overwhelmed the area, pulling her off the rocks and dragging her into the ocean. The incident was captured on video, which showed the young actress struggling in the turbulent waters before being lost from sight.
Local authorities were notified, and a rescue team arrived on the scene approximately 15 minutes after the wave swept her away. However, due to dangerous conditions, the search for Belyatskaya was temporarily suspended. The rescue team was unable to locate her immediately due to the monsoon season’s rough waters.
A Passion for the Island:
Belyatskaya, who was visiting the island with her boyfriend, had expressed her deep affection for Koh Samui on social media, often referring to it as “home” and describing it as “the best place on earth.” She had visited the island repeatedly, enjoying its scenic views and tranquil atmosphere.
Authorities’ Warning:
According to Chaiyaporn Subprasert, the head of the Samui Rescue Center, tourists are regularly warned during the monsoon season about the dangers of swimming in high-risk areas, such as Chaweng and Lamai beaches, where red flags are posted to indicate no swimming. Tragically, Belyatskaya’s yoga session occurred in one of these high-risk areas, where strong waves can be unpredictable and dangerous.
This devastating event has left many mourning the loss of a talented and promising young actress, whose life was tragically cut short while visiting a place she had grown to love. The authorities continue to remind tourists to heed safety warnings, especially in areas prone to dangerous wave conditions.
