
A shooting incident at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital on Thursday morning left one person injured, prompting an urgent search for the suspect. Authorities have confirmed that the shooting, which took place just after 8 a.m., appears to be an isolated event.
Ongoing Search for Shooter
Law enforcement officials are actively searching for the suspect, who remains at large. The injured victim is receiving medical treatment, though their condition has not been disclosed.
A medical assistant at the hospital, identified as Barbara, described the terrifying moment she arrived at work and was warned by a coworker about the active shooter. “I was getting into the parking lot when another coworker started screaming to get back in my car because there was an active shooter,” she told Local 4. “I saw police officers on the parking garage with their guns drawn, walking in a line.”
Emergency Alert Issued to Staff
Hospital staff received an urgent emergency notification, instructing them to follow “Run, Hide, Fight” guidelines. The message read:
“THIS IS AN EMERGENCY — There is an ACTIVE SHOOTER at Troy Hospital in the Parking Structure building. Police are en route. Please take immediate personal safety measures and follow the run, hide, fight guidelines. For those not currently at the facility, stay away. Do not return until the all-clear has been given.”
Schools on High Alert
In response to the shooting, Troy School District reassured parents and staff that additional security measures had been taken, emphasizing that schools remain safe and in session.
“We are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” the district said in a statement.
Investigation Ongoing
Authorities have yet to release details about a potential suspect or motive. The Troy Police Department continues to investigate, urging the public to avoid the area until further notice.
