“Trump Criticizes Biden’s Competence, Not Age, in 2024 Election Bid”

    -

Former President Donald Trump has taken a swipe at current US President Joe Biden’s 2024 election bid, emphasizing that concerns about age should not overshadow the issue of competence. In an upcoming interview set to air, Trump stated that Biden, despite his age, is “not too old” but rather “grossly incompetent,” as reported by The Hill.

In the interview on SiriusXM’s “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Trump commented on the role of age in politics, noting, “Age is interesting because some people are very sharp, and some people do lose it, but you lose it at 40 and 50, also.” However, he made it clear that in Biden’s case, age is not the primary concern.

“No, he’s not too old at all. He’s grossly incompetent,” Trump asserted, firmly separating the issues of age and suitability for the presidency.

According to recent polls, Trump, who is 77 years old, is gearing up for a presidential run in 2024 and is likely to face Biden, who is 80, in the general election.

Trump also challenged polling results that suggested Americans believed Biden was too old to serve as president. In response, he cited examples of friends and world leaders who have maintained their mental acuity well into their nineties.

“No, not, not for the reason of ‘old,’” Trump responded when asked if Americans have valid concerns about Biden’s age. He added, “I have friends, Bernie Marcus, that are in their 90s and they’re sharp as a tack. They’re just, I mean, I would say just about what they used to be. No, not old. He’s incompetent.”

Trump has consistently rejected any efforts to disqualify him from the presidency based on his own age, as reported by The Hill.

The upcoming conversation between Donald Trump and Megyn Kelly marks their first interaction since May 2016 when Trump was vying for the Republican presidential nomination, signifying a renewed phase of their political rivalry.
