Nine people, including a woman, tragically lost their lives as fresh violence broke out in Manipur, India. The incident occurred during a late-night firing in the Khamenlok area, as reported by sources within the army. Shockingly, some of the victims exhibited cut marks on their bodies and multiple bullet injuries, underscoring the severity of the incident.

Manipur has been grappling with heightened tensions for over a month, primarily stemming from ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities. The Khamenlok area, where the violence unfolded, is situated near the border of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts. Tragically, the ethnic clashes in Manipur have already claimed the lives of approximately 100 individuals, causing numerous injuries, and displacing thousands of residents. The unrest initially erupted as tribal bodies organized protest marches against the proposed grant of Scheduled Tribes status to the Meitei community, which forms the majority in the state.
Presently, eleven out of the sixteen districts in Manipur remain under curfew, highlighting the gravity of the situation. To prevent the spread of misinformation and the incitement of further violence, internet services have been suspended throughout the state.
