Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a three-day visit to the United States, beginning with his attendance at the Quad Leaders’ Summit and various high-level meetings. A major highlight of his visit will be the highly anticipated ‘Modi&US’ event, set to take place at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York, on September 22. The event, which promises to be a grand cultural celebration, is aimed at strengthening ties with the Indian diaspora in the U.S.
Sold-Out Event Draws Massive Interest
Organized by over 500 community organizations from 40 different U.S. states, the ‘Modi&US’ event has already reached full capacity, with 25,000 attendees registering for just 13,000 available seats. The demand was so overwhelming that registration sold out within the first 48 hours. Ganesh Ramakrishnan, one of the key organizers, expressed his excitement: “The sheer volume of people working together to make this event a success is really impressive.”
Cultural Extravaganza Featuring Over 400 Artists
The event will include performances across two stages, showcasing India’s diverse cultural heritage. The main stage will host a production titled Echoes of India: A Journey of Art and Tradition, featuring close to 400 nationally and internationally renowned artists. Among the notable performers are Grammy Award nominee Chandrika Tandon, STAR Voice of India winner Aishwarya Majumdar, Instagram’s viral sensation Ricky Pond, and popular singer Rex DSouuza.
The outer stage will highlight unique community-led performances, bringing together 100 artists for a vibrant mix of classical, folk, fusion, and modern performances. Sai Sagar Patnaik, the director of the cultural show, emphasized the diversity represented in the program, noting that it will feature dances and music from every corner of India.
An Inspiring Celebration of Indian Heritage
In addition to the cultural performances, over 350 volunteers from 14 states have been working behind the scenes to ensure the success of the event. The ‘Modi&US’ celebration will also attract significant media attention, with over 150 media professionals from 85 different outlets covering the occasion.
Harry Singh, co-chair of the event’s Reception Committee, shared his thoughts on the significance of the gathering: “It’s an inspiring celebration that shines a light on the vibrant tapestry of Indian culture and the invaluable contributions of Indian Americans. It’s an opportunity to share our heritage, build friendships between our home and country of origin, and foster a brighter future for all.”
The event is expected to reflect not only India’s rich cultural diversity but also the deep ties between India and the Indian-American community in the U.S.
